Music for Minors

Health & Safety Policy

 

                                   

To ensure that health and safety risks are kept to a minimum please ensure that the following rules are followed during Music for Minors classes.

 

1.      Please make sure pushchairs, prams etc are kept in a separate room and away from the children

2.      Children must wear shoes at all times.

3.      Any loose clothing should be put away or hung on pegs. Coats and bags should be hung up or put securely behind or under chairs.

4.      Food should not be consumed during class time. Drinks are permitted but should be kept to one side.

5.      Children should be kept away from any apparatus in the room which Music for Minors is not accountable for example climbing frames etc.

6.      At most sessions there is a flip chart board this is kept to the front of class and children should be kept away from this area as best possible.

7.      As some equipment (such as electric power sockets) is highly dangerous children must be kept away from the front table as best possible. Measures will be taken to ensure cables and power sockets are as safe as possible.

8.      Children should be discouraged from putting instruments or beaters in mouths including items on the “Soundwall” and as a precaution all musical equipment will be wiped over after each session with anti-bacterial wipes.

9.      When playing with the “Soundwall” children should be supported physically where needed and should not lean on or pull themselves up using the frame.

10.  Any other creative tool used in class again must not be allowed in children’s mouths. Items that can be washed or cleaned will be done so each term.

11.  Mats are provided for comfort and safety against falls however care by all adults present must be taken to ensure children do not trip over mats.

12.  All percussion instruments used during class are fit for purpose and will be checked and maintained before each session.

13.  Parents and carers must be present with children in their care, at all times during class.

14.  Please turn off mobile phones or leave on silent, during class, unless you are expecting an urgent call, please notify the class leader in this instance.

15. Risk Assessments will be carried out on a yearly basis.
